A Second Chance

“It’s my own waywardness
It’s your own oversight
I actually didn’t plan to win
And you might have seen me plan to lose

Couldn’t hide my lost
Though dirty linens abound
Couldn’t have done worse
I openly admit, please I need it

A second chance”

_Sams

“Just allow me to air my err as an imperfect human who’s bound to fall more than ones. I admit I have not been living up to expectations and was obviously judged with and without a lie. In my journey, life was a bed of roses filled with different fragrance of love. I didn’t want my already figured shape to look awkward after all irrespective of my offsprings. So I got stuck with the idea of my own glittery world of satisfaction at the apex. I craved for more and more… Everything was dancing to my melodious tunes. There he was sitting and staring like a lonely child thinking of what the future holds for him and for me. I couldn’t help but say to myself, enjoy yourself and be merry. Yes, I enjoyed myself to the core. I cared about no one but myself. Even when my help was needed of which I could, yet I ignored. They were hurt and felt like I didn’t exist anymore… Well, you seem not to be following my story, but I feel I have poured out enough clues to my waywardness for you to comprehend. All I ask for now is a second chance to make things right” _Anonymous

“I am not a product of my circumstances but of my decisions.” _Stephen Covey

Hmm! I felt the pain of the outcry and it really pricked my heart as I imagined how her life had been. Well, life is a mystery and the decisions we take either make or mar it. We all have a second chance but some persons don’t live to get it and when you get it, don’t waste it!

“It’s okay to get lost every once in a while, sometimes getting lost is how we find ourselves.” _Robert Tew

“A second chance” according to Merriam-Webster is an opportunity given to try something again after failing one time. We can’t turn back the clock of time. Good or bad, right or wrong, it is done. It’s over! So what we need is an avenue to make right the wrong things done. Regrets are important in our life to help us self-correct. The key is to recover from and build on the sharp sting of regrets to look for the lessons learned and take comfort in the fact that these lessons make us wiser. It’s never too late to start over. If you weren’t happy with yesterday, try something different today. Don’t stay stuck. Do better.

The idea of giving someone a second chance is central to the notion of forgiveness. And a times a second chance given could be a dangerous step because it might result in a waste of time. Did you know that there are persons out there waiting for their first time chance? So when we live, let’s be circumspect on how it’s done to avoid an outcry for a second chance. Many of us believe in second chances but don’t think everyone deserves them. Yes, it’s as simple as that. Some of us think we can toy with people’s feelings and still want a second chance to come and finish up with the things we couldn’t do before the mistake. We want to satisfy our urge at the expense of another. Well, the bottom line for me is “if you are lucky to get a second chance, then don’t waste it.”

Remember this:
The best gift in life is a second chance. Don’t waste it!

  1. Even as God is a God of more than second chances, it takes pure grace for we humans to give somone or people second to third chances…
Oh well…. one should be given and if that person blew it, the onus is on them.
