Infertile Ground

“I fell
In my fall I wholeheartedly sowed
Waiting to fill

You’re joyful
In your joyousness you bountifully reaped
Smiling in full

You prepared a table for two
And my name enclosed without clue

I realized I sowed
But in infertile ground”

_Sams

“I didn’t know what hit me! I proudly ran into an astonishing outstretched arm clothed with a charming smile and an outstanding physique. I unconsciously ignored all signs of morals because I felt there hadn’t been anyone else but him. I gave out my all even in difficulty knowing fully well it’s for a just course. I was preparing him to be crowned because I felt I will always be by his side. Life was good! Times flew like lightning and getting to its destination, it crawled and finally halted without reaching its target. Yes, it did! Questions were asked and answers were inaudible. I was jilted! I sowed wholeheartedly and reaped stunted and rotten. Indeed i sowed in an infertile ground!” _Anonymous

I felt for her! It’s been done and there’s always a way out of every setbacks. But I know that for every seed sown there’s always a time to reap; either joyfully or sorrowfully. We all wished for the best especially when we have worked and yearned for it. Well, don’t expect everyone to understand your journey especially if they’ve never had to walk your path and no one would ever understand how much it hurts to fail at something you want to succeed in. There’s always a fertile ground to sow, but you have to watch the ground where you are to sow! Don’t over blow your yield expectations to avoid being disappointed.

According to Wikipedia, infertility is the inability of a person, animal or plant to reproduce by natural means. That means being unproductive. But for an infertile ground, it is the inability of a ground to sustain growth and support bountiful yields.
From a friend’s point of view who once narrated to me how he gave his all for a better future, but… He trained his long time girlfriend all through her higher education,… and when it was time to get settled down with her, she was nowhere to be found and everything went down the drain as if they never existed. He was left devastated! Hmm, infertile grounds exist in almost all aspects of our lives. It could be in investing our money, time, resources and as well our heart. But none of these mean the end of the road for a better ground ahead.

The world is turning into a lifestyle of self-centeredness where some people just feel concerned about themselves because they feel the world is no longer a safe place to get involved wholeheartedly. Yes, based on happenings around on how people are being betrayed, scandalized, enslaved, duped, jilted and so on, they tend to thread circumspectly. Well, we shouldn’t judge each day by the harvest we reap but by the seeds that we plant. Sow and act and you’ll reap a habit.

“Sow an act and you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character and you reap a destiny.” _ Charles Reade

Remember this:
The only expectations you should live up to are the ones you expect of yourself. So the best way to avoid disappointments is to not expect anything from anyone. Period!

  1. This is insightful. I try nit to expect anything from people.. just do my bit, that way when they disappoint, my shock absorber is intact.. 😁
A quote from Frank also helped me in my perception… he said that “Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back, don’t expect love in return, just wait for it to grow, and if doesn’t, be content it grew in yours”.
I believe that, that your friend that sowed on infertile ground concerning his girlfriend, will actually reap bountifully later on. That was just a learning phase for him for future harvest. 😊
